Easy Halloween Oreo Pops

A no-bake, kid-approved Halloween treat that’s as fun to make as it is to eat.

If you’re looking for a Halloween treat that’s ridiculously easy, totally adorable, and something your kids can actually help make, these Halloween Oreo Pops are it. No baking, no fancy equipment, just Oreos, candy melts, lollipop sticks, and whatever spooky candy decorations you can get your hands on.

As a former chef and a very busy mom, I love recipes like this: minimal ingredients, big payoff, and zero stress. Some of my favorite recipes to share are the ones that look like you spent hours in the kitchen but really came together in twenty minutes flat, and these Oreo pops are exactly that. They’re perfect for school bake sales, class parties, a surprise tucked into a lunchbox, or a rainy-afternoon activity when you need to keep little hands busy. Bonus, toddlers can decorate these to their heart’s content (chaos and all).

The best part is how flexible they are. Once you know the basic method of stick, dip, decorate, you can make an entire monster mash of characters: grinning pumpkins, wrapped-up mummies, googly-eyed monsters, and green little Frankensteins. Set out a few bowls of colored candy melts and a tray of decorations, and you’ve got an activity and a dessert in one.

Why You'll Love These Halloween Oreo Pops

  • Only 4 ingredients (plus your imagination)
  • No oven required, so no melting down in a hot kitchen
  • Kids and toddlers can help decorate
  • Endless designs: pumpkins, mummies, monsters, Frankensteins
  • Budget-friendly and made from things you can grab at any grocery store
  • Great for parties, bake sales, and lunchbox surprises

Ingredients

  • Oreo cookies (regular or Double Stuf, Double Stuf hold the stick better)
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Candy melts (orange, purple, green, white, black, pick your palette)
  • Candy decorations: candy eyes, Halloween sprinkles, and any themed candies you like
  • Fondant and Halloween pumpkin face stamps (optional but so easy for pumpkin faces!)

A quick note on candy melts: they come in almost every color and are sold at craft stores, most big grocery stores, and online. If you can only find a few shades, white candy melts can be tinted with oil-based food coloring (not water-based, which makes them seize). And if you want a shortcut on colors, chocolate melts work beautifully for Frankenstein hair and monster details.

How to Make Halloween Oreo Pops

  1. Insert the stick. Gently twist a lollipop stick into the cream filling of each Oreo. Go slow so the cookie doesn’t split. (Tip: dip the stick tip in melted candy first, then insert. It acts like glue and holds better.)
  2. Melt the candy melts. Microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth. Keep them in separate bowls if using multiple colors. Overheating is the number one reason candy melts turn thick and clumpy, so stop as soon as they’re pourable.
  3. Dip the Oreo. Hold the pop by the stick and dip the whole cookie into the candy melt, spooning it over to coat both sides evenly. Let the excess drip off by gently tapping the stick against the edge of the bowl.
  4. Decorate right away. Candy melts set fast, so add eyes, sprinkles, and details while it’s still wet. Make pumpkins, mummies, monsters, or whatever your kids dream up.
  5. Let them set. Lay flat on parchment paper or stand upright until firm (10 to 15 minutes). Once hardened, they’re ready to package, gift, or devour.

Decorating Ideas

Here’s where the fun really happens. These are the four designs I made, but honestly the sky is the limit.

  • Pumpkins: orange melt + orange sprinkles + green stem. For the faces, I used fondant with Halloween pumpkin face stamps. Just stamp the shapes out of black fondant and press them on while the candy melt is still wet. So quick and they look adorable, way cleaner than trying to pipe faces freehand.
  • Mummies: white melt as a base, then drizzle more white melt back and forth in thin strips to look like bandages. Add two candy eyes peeking out from between the wraps.
  • Frankenstein: green melt for the face, a little melted chocolate spread across the top for hair, and two candy eyes. I like to use stamped out fondant for the mouths, a its just easier than piping chocolate, plus its fun for toddlers and kids to design their own faces once you stamp out the mouths.
  • Monsters: purple melt + a sprinkle of matching jimmies across the top for wild hair + one big candy eye in the center. These are the easiest for little kids to make and always turn out funny.

Tips for Success

  • Use Double Stuf Oreos, more cream means a more secure stick.
  • Work in small batches so the candy melts don’t harden before you decorate.
  • Add a teaspoon of coconut oil or shortening to thin candy melts if too thick.
  • Fondant pumpkin face stamps are a game-changer if you want clean, cute faces without piping.
  • If a cookie cracks when you insert the stick, don’t toss it. Dip it anyway, the candy coating hides a lot.
  • Let kids own the decorating, imperfect is part of the charm.

Make-Ahead and Storage

These are wonderful for making ahead, which is exactly why they’re my go-to for busy party weeks. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. If you’re stacking them, place a sheet of parchment between the layers so they don’t stick together. You can also make them a day or two before an event and package each one in a little clear treat bag tied with ribbon, perfect for bake sale tables or party favors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use chocolate instead of candy melts?
You can, but candy melts set harder and come in more colors, which makes them ideal for these. If you use chocolate, add a little coconut oil so it coats smoothly.

Why did my candy melts get thick and lumpy?
Almost always overheating or a drop of water getting in. Melt slowly in short bursts, and make sure your bowls and utensils are completely dry.

Can toddlers really help with these?
Absolutely! The dipping is best left to an adult, but decorating is perfect for little hands. Give them the eyes and sprinkles and let them go wild!

Can I make these for a nut-free or allergy-friendly party?
Always check your specific labels, but candy melts and Oreos are a good starting point for many nut-free tables. Read packaging carefully for cross-contamination warnings.

Description

Easy no-bake Halloween Oreo Pops made with just Oreos, candy melts, and lollipop sticks. Dip, decorate, and turn plain cookies into pumpkins, mummies, monsters, Frankensteins and any spooky creation you can imagine! Perfect for kids, parties, and bake sales.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 Oreo cookies (Double Stuf recommended)
  • 12 lollipop sticks
  • 12 oz candy melts (orange, purple, green, white, and black)
  • Candy eyes
  • Halloween sprinkles
  • Black fondant (optional, for pumpkin faces and monster mouths)
  • 1 to 2 tsp coconut oil or shortening (optional, to thin candy melts)

Equipment

  • Lollipop sticks
  • Microwave-safe bowls
  • Parchment paper
  • Halloween pumpkin face fondant stamps (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gently twist a lollipop stick into the cream filling of each Oreo. For a stronger hold, dip the tip of the stick in melted candy first, then insert.
  2. Melt candy melts in microwave-safe bowls in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth. Keep colors in separate bowls. Stir in a little coconut oil if too thick.
  3. Hold each pop by the stick and dip the Oreo into the candy melt, spooning it over to coat both sides. Tap gently against the bowl to remove excess.
  4. Decorate immediately while the coating is wet.
  5. Lay flat on parchment paper or stand upright until fully set, about 10 to 15 minutes.

Notes

  • Double Stuf Oreos hold the stick more securely than regular.
  • Overheating is the main cause of thick, clumpy candy melts. Melt slowly and keep everything dry.
  • For pumpkin faces and monster mouths, stamp shapes from black fondant and press on while the coating is still wet.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, with parchment between layers.
