Lick -Your-Plate Clean Baby Bechamel Sauce
I firmly believe that there are only two types of people in this world: Sauce people and non-sauce people. And I am definitely a sauce person. Ever since I can remember I have loved a good sauce slathered all over everything I eat.
But much to my dismay, I married a non sauce loving person and gosh darnit I am determined to share my love of sauces with my kids! And that’s basically the inspiration for this versatile, healthy and veggie packed Baby Bechamel Sauce that is perfect for picky eaters and kids who love to eat alike! Quick and easy veggie packed red pasta sauce
When it comes to toddler meals, you can’t beat a good red sauce! It’s colorful, cozy, and the perfect place to hide tons of veggies! I love making this sauce when I see a bunch of odd little pieces of veggies starting to wilt in the corners of my crisper drawers, as you can really just add whatever veggies you have laying around the house – plus a bunch of tomatoes- into this sauce to make it a super healthy sauce your baby and toddler will love to slurp up with some pasta. Some of my favorite veggies to add to this sauce include:
- zucchini
- onions
- garlic
- carrots
- spinach
- basil
- green peppers
- broccoli
- mushrooms
- parsley
Pro Tip: For even heartier toddler meal ideas, you can add ground beef, turkey, or chicken to the sauce. Or just freeze it solo for a flexible base to toss with pasta, rice, or veggies during the week!
This hidden veggie sauce is a perfect pick if you’re searching for toddler picky eater recipes that pack a serious nutrition punch.
Perfect Baby Led Weaning Green Pesto
This is such a fun and vibrant sauce and possibly one of my most used sauces for my 13 month old! I am lucky that she loves green food (for now) so I tend to throw this sauce over a lot of her meals during the week. Click here for my Baby Pesto Recipe.
Making this Green baby Pesto could not be easier! All you need is either a blender or a food processor and a bunch of green veggies! My version for a Green Baby Pesto includes two common allergens – dairy and nuts – as I am making this kind of true to a real pesto, and my 13 month old is not allergic to either of these ingredients. But if your baby or toddler is allergic to either of these, or if you haven’t tried to introduce and test common allergens, then you can simple just leave them out.
Here are my favorite veggies to use to make a Green Baby Pesto:
- Peas –
- Spinach
- Parsley
- Asparagus
- Cashew Nuts
- Parmesan Cheese
- Basil
This pesto is delicious spooned over pasta, spread onto sandwiches, stirred into scrambled eggs, or even used as a dip for roasted veggies. It’s a perfect addition to your list of toddler meal ideas when you’re short on time but still want a nourishing option.
