5 Healthy Halloween Snacks for Babies & Toddlers (Hidden Veggies & No Sugar Crash!)
Spooky-cute treats that are secretly good for them, from a former chef and very tired mom.
There’s a specific kind of tired that hits in October. The parties, the costumes, the classroom sign-up sheets, and somewhere in the middle of it all, a baby or toddler who wants to be part of the spooky fun but can’t exactly go to town on a bowl of candy corn. That’s the gap these five snacks fill. They’re the ones I actually reach for when I want to hand my little one something festive that won’t wreck naptime, sneak in a vegetable or two, and still be soft and simple enough for the youngest crew at the table.
Over the last couple of Halloweens I got a little crafty in the kitchen, and these five are the ones that stuck. Some are sweet, some are savory, a few hide a whole serving of veggies your kid will never detect, and every single one is easy enough to pull off on a chaotic weeknight in October.
Here are my five go-to healthy Halloween snacks for babies and toddlers. Grab your candy eyes (or skip them for the littlest crew!) and let’s get into it.
1. Spooky Frozen Yogurt Bites
If your toddler is teething or you just need a healthy treat you can hand over in a hurry, start here. These Spooky Frozen Yogurt Bites are creamy, fruity little frozen bites made in Halloween silicone molds, and they’ve got a whole half cup of fresh spinach blended right in that your kids will never, ever taste. The dark berries do all the work on color and flavor, and that sneaky spinach just vanishes.
They’re only three ingredients, there’s no added sugar, and they’re soft and cold, which makes them wonderful for baby-led weaning and for soothing sore little gums. You make a batch, stash them in the freezer, and pull one out whenever you need a spooky snack that won’t send anyone into orbit.
Why it’s a healthy win: hidden spinach, no added sugar, naturally sweetened by fruit Baby tip: perfect for BLW; just size the bites for your baby and let them warm for a minute so they’re not too cold on tiny gums 👉 Get the Spooky Frozen Yogurt Bites recipe
2. Ghost Pigs in a Blanket
Sometimes you just need something warm and savory to balance out all the sweet, and these Ghost Pigs in a Blanket are my favorite for that. They’re my Halloween twist on the classic, with sausage and cheese tucked between two little ghost shapes cut from crescent dough, finished with candy-eye “boo!” faces after they come out of the oven.
Here’s the part I love most: they’re genuinely fun to make WITH your toddler. Cutting out the ghost shapes, sprinkling the cheese, pressing on the little olive mouths—these are the perfect fiddly jobs for tiny hands, and there’s no hot stove or sharp knife in their part of it. And if you want to sneak in some veggies, you can stir a little finely grated carrot or spinach right into the cheese filling.
Why it’s a healthy win: savory and filling, easy to sneak veggies into the filling, no sugar Baby tip: skip the candy eyes and use soft olive pieces instead, and cut into small, age-appropriate pieces 👉 Get the Ghost Pigs in a Blanket recipe
3. Healthy Halloween Yogurt Bark
This one is pure sneaky-mom magic, and it’s honestly prettier than anything you could do with a bottle of food dye. Healthy Halloween Yogurt Bark gets every one of its spooky colors from real food: mango and a pinch of turmeric for the orange pumpkins, a handful of blended spinach for the monster-green swirl, and blackberries for little spider bodies. No artificial dyes, no added refined sugar, just fruit and yogurt dressed up for spooky season.
You spread it on a tray, decorate it with candy eyes and pretzel pumpkins, freeze it, and break off pieces all week long. It doubles as a fun little kitchen activity too, which is a win on those long October afternoons.
Why it’s a healthy win: naturally colored with real food, hidden spinach, no artificial dyes or refined sugar Baby tip: for the littlest ones, skip the candy eyes and pretzels and just enjoy the swirly bark on its own 👉 Get the Healthy Halloween Yogurt Bark recipe
4. Halloween Mummy Dogs
These Halloween Mummy Dogs are the cozy, crowd-pleasing bite that always disappears first at a toddler Halloween party. Sausages get wrapped in strips of crescent dough to look like little bandaged mummies, with candy eyes peeking out from between the wraps. They’re warm, they’re just a little cheesy, and they’re endlessly dunkable in ketchup, which my toddler considers the whole point.
Like the ghost version, these are a fun one to make alongside the kids, and they work for pretty much any meal—an after-school snack, a spooky lunch plate with some veggies on the side, or a party platter.
Why it’s a healthy win: savory and satisfying, no sugar, easy to serve with veggies and fruit on the side Baby tip: use a mild, fully-cooked sausage, skip the candy eyes for little ones, and slice into safe, small pieces 👉 Get the Halloween Mummy Dogs recipe
