Ingredients

Units Scale

2 cups quick oats

2 medium very ripe bananas

1 cup berries of your choice

2 cups milk (See Notes) I use whole milk

3 Tbs Peanut Butter – Optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  2. Line a 9×9 baking dish with parchment paper.
  3. Mix the oats with the milk and let stand for about 15 min while you get your other ingredients ready.
  4. Mash bananas in a medium bowl. Add all other ingredients and mix until well combined. Make sure to mash up any of the bigger berries to make it easier for your little one to eat.
  5. Pour mixture into prepared dish. Bake in the centre rack  for 25 -30 min, or until the edges are slightly browned.
  6. Remove from oven and let cool. Slice into fingers or little blocks.
  7. Once completely cooled, store in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Or freeze for up to a month and take out as needed for snacks or meals.

Notes

You can easily customize the flavors of these bars with whatever fruits you have on hand. Mashed cooked apple is a great substitute for the sweetness of banana. Or try a tropical pureed pineapple and coconut oatmeal bake!

You can use any milk in this recipe according to your preference or dietary requirements. Almond, hemp, oat, formula or breast milk are all great options.

Frozen oatmeal bars are great for teething treats!

To defrost, simply place in the fridge overnight, or place in the microwave for a couple of seconds.
